Patient education is at the heart of the dispensary experience, and Citiva has invested in programs and processes to ensure that our Pharmacists and Dispensary Associates are well-equipped to inform and guide patients.
Citiva also seeks to have a broader impact by providing educational resources and opportunities to healthcare providers, who are critical to the success of the Medical Marijuana Program in New York State.
Healthcare Provider Education
To offer patients the best care, healthcare providers must continue to educate themselves about important developments in medicine throughout their careers.
One of the most poignant examples of this need is the dearth of understanding in the medical community about the body’s endocannabinoid system and cannabinoid therapy.
In order to further understanding of the role of cannabinoid therapy has in medicine, Citiva has pioneered a partnership with Long Island University’s School of Pharmacy in the shared pursuit of educating the healthcare community about the science of medical cannabis.
On November 17, 2019, with assistance from Citiva, LIU hosted an accredited Continuing Medical Education conference that covered the basics of the endocannabinoid system, the pharmacology of cannabis, and general education about the New York State Medical Marijuana Program.
This program has laid the foundation for future joint ventures between Citiva and educational institutions across New York State.
